IBM Uses Firefox InternallyThe most recent IT Policy made by IBM was the use of Firefox as the company’s current default browser. This policy was based on the browser’s major endorsement of suitability in various large-scale enterprise environments. IBM will roll this policy out in computers for new employees. The company also plans to encourage its 400,000 staff to as well use Firefox in their current systems.

Bob Sutor, IBM VP of Linux and Open Source Software, said that the plan is based on the strong security, apparent extensibility and sturdy Web standards support of Firefox. He believes that this company-wide policy will help accelerate the company’s significant shift in cloud computing. In a way, Sutor recognizes the Gold Standard that this open source Web Browser has and contends of the reinvigorating efforts that Mozilla has.

Firefox has been long acclaimed by a lot of users worldwide. It is just about the right time for IBM to recognize the longstanding commitment and efforts of Mozilla to open standards.
